To be eligible for the Dean's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

The following local residents made the Summer 2017 Academic Achievement List at Georgia Southwestern State University and were among 400 students recognized for scholastic achievement.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized more than 2,700 students for excellence in academics on the Spring 2017 semester Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for spring 2017. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the spring 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The University of North Georgia awarded more than 1,800 degrees and certificates for the spring 2017 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held May 5-7 at the university.

Carson Fields has been named Georgia Southwestern State University's 2017 Outstanding Scholar - the University's highest academic honor. He was recognized during the March 2017 meeting of the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents, along with the top students from other schools in Georgia.

Students, alumni, faculty and staff volunteered for Trees Atlanta as part of GSU Cares Day on March 4, 2017. Volunteers assisted in planting new seeds or trees.
